What the learners have gained:
- improved communication and interaction with the local community, through their increasing confidence and skills in English
- growing awareness of British and Scottish systems, helping them to make sense of the direction their lives have taken
- confirmation of their own worth, after serious disruption in their careers and domestic circumstances
- willingness to seize the initiative in forging new roles and identities.
