Evaluation Guide

The adult ESOL strategy for Scotland plays a key supporting role in achieving the Scottish Government's vision for a prosperous, inclusive, diverse Scotland. Raising the quality and quantity of English learning opportunities for those adults for whom English is not a first language is key to the success of the strategy. It is vital that we support learning, progression and expansion in order to meet growing demand.

The strategy recommended the development of a ESOL framework or guide to provide a platform for disseminating existing good practice to all ESOL providers.

Coherent provision and consistent high quality will benefit all learners. Through this evaluation guide, good practice can be recognised and shared.

This guide does not seek to replace existing evaluation frameworks and is not intended to be a comprehensive manual of ESOL methodology. It should be seen as a tool for tutors, organisers, managers and partners to use to their advantage; it is not a prescriptive document.
